CLD Cirrhosis: Causes, Symptoms, Diagnosis & Treatment

Cirrhosis is what a layman would call the permanent scarring in the liver. This is a permanent damage that has some detrimental effects on the rest of the body. As cirrhosis happens to be an actual physically visible factor of the liver, it can be caused by a plethora of liver disease. In this particular detriment of the liver, the flow of blood is blocked and as a consequence, the organ is not able to filter out all the toxicity properly.

Symptoms of Cirrhosis are as follows:

  3. Loss of weight
  4. Abdomen has some fluid accumulated within i8t.
  5. Jaundice like symptoms that entails yellow coloration of eye and skin.
  6. East bruising and easy bleeding.
  7. Redness on the hands palms
  8. The chest in men enlarges.

Diagnosis

Much like any other liver disease out there, the initial symptoms of the condition tends to not have any symptom. However, when any of the above symptoms appear, a routine test is done.

  1. Blood test to check for hepatitis B and C.
  2. Test for the International normalization ratio for the blood clotting.
  3. Detecting the stiffening of liver either using elastography and transient elastography.
  4. MRI, CT and ultrasound of the organ.
  5. Biopsy of Liver.

Treatment of Cirrhosis

The treatments of the disease entail the following:

  1. Hospitalization in case the liver state is in a constant state of deterioration.
  2. Treatment for alcohol abuse, obesity and others.
  3. Liver transplantation for advanced cases.
